Stay Safe and Have Fun at the Pool

PoolMemorial Day is fast approaching and the hot temperatures mean that pool season is almost here! Many of our beautiful master-planned communities include community pools, such as Charter Colony in Chesterfield County and Rutland in Hanover County. Plus, our White Hall community near Williamsburg will debut its new pool later this month! These community pools offer fun places to relax and escape the heat. They also are great gathering spots for community events and to spend time with neighbors.

Our homeowners enjoy the pools and we include them in many of our communities because we understand that it’s how you live that matters. Check out your community’s newsletter for details on fun events, like fantastic float nights and late night swim. We love it when our homeowners share the pools with guests too, but remember to check the guest policies and pick up guest cards.

As great as the community pools are, it’s important to practice pool safety. Follow posted rules in the pool area and instructions from lifeguards. Other tips for a fun and healthy pool season include:

  • The Red Cross offers safety tips, such as keeping an eye on children at all times whether they’re in the water or not.
  • Swim lessons are valuable for children and the recommended age to begin lessons is at least 4 years old, according to the American Association of Pediatrics.
  • Pool Safely is another great resource and includes educational videos to encourage pool safety so you can make the most of your time at the pool!

Most of all, have fun this summer and enjoy the pool!
