Q&A About Community Associations

As you may have seen on our Facebook and Twitter feeds, we’re so excited that HHHunt’s Amanda Jonas has been inducted as the 2013 President of the Central Virginia Chapter of Community Associations Institute! Given Amanda’s expertise in creating and managing community associations, we asked her some questions about her work and what makes a great homeowners association.

Please describe your new role with the Central Virginia Chapter of Community Associations Institute. What are your responsibilities?
As President of the Central Virginia Chapter of Community Associations, my goal is to continue to promote and support the efforts of the Chapter to provide valuable information and education to community associations in our region and the professionals who support them.  Through the hard work and dedication of the Chapter’s Board of Directors and other volunteers, I have no doubt but that the organization will thrive in this endeavor.

What is your role with HHHunt?
My role with HHHunt is two fold.  I currently work with Genesis Community Management to handle the day to day operations of several of the Community Associations established by HHHunt.  I also work with HHHunt Communities, assisting with the entitlement process and drafting the start-up documents for any new Community Associations.

What do you enjoy most about working with communities and homeowners associations?
While working with homeowners associations can have its ups and downs, the benefits far outweigh the challenges.  The most rewarding aspect of working with homeowners associations is knowing that your work has a direct impact on the quality of life of those living in the neighborhood.  While helping to protect property values of the homes in the neighborhood, you also can work to promote the vibrant social interactions that create a community.

What makes a successful community and/or homeowners association?
There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes in to the successful operation of a homeowners association.  Sound architectural controls, quality amenities, and a great location are all important, but by far the crucial ingredient for a successful community is the people.  It is through an intense focus on lifestyle and customer service that HHHunt Communities has been able to set itself apart from other developers in the region and continue to thrive.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I look forward to all of the exciting opportunities in the year to come, both in my work with HHHunt Communities/Genesis Community Management and as President of the Central Virginia Chapter of CAI.  I am honored to have been chosen to represent such a dynamic group.
