Looking Back At The Villages Of Charter Colony

At HHHunt Communities, we believe it’s how you live that matters, and for over 30 years we have developed some of the most sought-after and award-winning master planned communities in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Raleigh. One of the communities we are most proud of is The Villages of Charter Colony in Midlothian, Virginia. As the final home goes up for sale, we wanted to take a quick look back at this amazing community.

Small-Town Charm of Midlothian

Midlothian, Virginia has always been known for its small-town charm. With unique shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences, this haven in Chesterfield County is one of the most desired places to live in the region. In the early 2000’s, HHHunt Communities saw an opportunity to build using the small-town charm that defined Midlothian and develop a master planned community that embraced the village concept found in the Western United States. Each village would be unique offering different home styles, lot sizes, and amenity clusters. In 2002, Chesterfield County gave approval for the creation of 11 unique villages and 2,000+ home sites which became The Villages of Charter Colony.

Connecting Midlothian with Greater Richmond

One of the biggest obstacles for the growth of Midlothian had been connectivity. However, work had begun on Route 288 which would connect Midlothian to Powhite Parkway, I-95, and I64. Route 288 was a game changer for Midlothian and the state highway currently divides The Villages of Charter Colony, but the community is connected by Charter Colony Parkway.

World-Class Amenities

Charter Colony offers access to world-class amenities unlike anything in the Greater Richmond region. There are three unique clubhouses, two pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, basketball courts, and miles of walking trails and sidewalks. The best part is that homeowners also have access to amazing community resources just steps from their front door. The Villages of Charter Colony surround the campus of John Tyler Community College, and are bordered by Watkins Elementary School, Midlothian Middle School, Midlothian High School, the Midlothian Family YMCA, and the Midlothian Library.

At HHHunt Communities, we build more than master planned communities. We build a better way of life. The Villages of Charter Colony helped redefine the Midlothian area as a dynamic live, work, and play destination. Thank you to all our partners for making this such a successful community.
