Healthy Game Day Recipes!

At HHHunt Communites, we’re huge sports fans and our homeowners enjoy coming together to watch their teams compete. We believe it’s how you live that matters, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone make new memories by coming together to watch the Super Bowl this weekend in our communities.

Besides watching the game, we all know that the food is the most important part of a game day party. Traditional foods like nachos, sliders, and chips and dip are always a fan favorite. However, if you’re looking to enjoy healthier tailgating foods, it can be a challenge. Check out these two classic game-day recipes that are lightened up just in time for kickoff!

Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 3 ounces Canadian bacon, diced
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-fat sour cream
  • 3 teaspoons chopped chives
  • 2 tablespoons shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Pierce potatoes with fork, and arrange on paper towels
  2. Microwave on high for 8 minutes; turn potatoes over after 4 minutes
  3. Cut potato in half lengthwise, scoop out the pulp, leaving ¼ inch-thick shells
  4. Mash pulp with bacon, sour cream, and chives in a bowl
  5. Spoon mixture into shells
  6. Sprinkle cheese on top of potatoes
  7. Microwave on high for 2 minutes; sprinkle with chives
  8. Enjoy!

Easy Guacamole

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tablespoons chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ small jalapeno pepper
  • 1 peeled avocado
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Place onion, lime juice, salt, garlic, jalapeno in a food processor; pulse 5 times or until finely chopped
  2. Add avocado; process until smooth
  3. Sprinkle with cilantro
