Love is in the air as we inch our way towards the most romantic holiday of the year this weekend! This Valentine’s Day, we hope you get to spend time with your friends, loved ones, and neighbors – in your HHHunt community. We believe it’s how you live that matters, and this holiday is all about showing the special people in your life how much you love them. But how? Try making a simple, yet thoughtful DIY gift this year! With just a bit of creativity, you can make a gift that’s sure to brighten Valentine’s Day. Check out some of our favorite do it yourself projects:
Homemade Valentine’s Day Fortune Cookies: Show your loved ones how “fortunate” you are to have them by making a batch of homemade fortunate cookies. You can write personalized predictions and sweet notes on strips of paper and tuck them into each cookie for a special surprise. They’re simple to make too!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 egg white
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
Step 1: Write Valentine’s Day fortunes on 3” by ½” strips of paper.
Step 2: Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease two cookie sheets.
Step 3: Mix together the vanilla and egg whites with a whisk until foamy.
Step 4: Using a sleeve, sift in flour, sugar, and water
Step 5: Using a spoon, place small dollops of batter onto cookie sheet and spread into 3 inch circles. The thinner the circles, the better the cookies will turn out.
Step 6: Place first batch in oven and bake for 6 minutes.
Step 7: Take cookies out, and using a spatula, place on a non-stick surface. Place a fortune in the center and fold cookie in half but don’t press it flat. Leaving a little bit of air in the middle, bend the folded cookie in half the other way to create the fortune cookie shape.
Step 8: Enjoy!
DIY Valentine’s Day Mug: Did you know that you can write anything you want on a mug with a sharpie, bake it, and then it’s permanent and dishwasher safe? Write your favorite sweet quotes about your special someone on a personalized coffee mug!
Instructions 
Step 1: Purchase an inexpensive and simple mug.
Step 2: Write your love notes or other personalized messages on the mug with a sharpie.
Step 3: Stick the mug on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let it cool\
Step 4: Fill up mug with your loved one’s favorite treats!
